What is Weathershield Fabric?
Weathershield is a solution dyed polyester fabric which creates a beautiful alternative to standard vinyl material from which hot tub covers have been made from for years.
The Cover Guy now offers Weathershield in 4 beautiful, neutral colors to enhance your hot tub area. The fabric can be ordered in Gray, Black, Brown or Mahogany.
Why Choose Weathershield Fabric over Regular Vinyl?
Weathershield is up to 25% lighter than vinyl and has a urethane coating which enhances the stability of the weaved polyester. This allows greater water resistance and minimizes any shrinkage or stretching which naturally occurs over time with vinyl.
Weathershield fabric is highly resistant to:
- UV rays
- Water
- Mold & mildew
- Tears & abrasions
Weathershield features a high UV coating and, just like vinyl, Weathershield is mold and mildew treated.
This fabric is also 4 season friendly, so whether you live in a sunny or cold climate, it is built to last against all elements.
How to Care for Weathershield Fabric?
Caring for this upgraded material is also easy! There is no additional hassle in maintaining a Weathershield hot tub cover.
Weathershield is designed to be easily maintained. It can be simply washed, brushed off and rinsed. Remember! Regular and proper care and cleaning are important to extend the life of any fabric.
Basic Care
For regular care, you can mix 2 ounces of a mild soap, like woolite or dawn dish soap to 1 gallon of lukewarm water. Then use a soft bristle brush to clean the material and rinse thoroughly with cold water. Allow to air dry.
Stubborn Stains
For more stubborn stains, you would add up to 1 cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water. Mix and spray lightly on the fabric face (non coated side). It is important that you never soak the fabric. Rinse immediately. Do not leave this solution on the fabric for any longer than 2 minutes.
Never use any harsh cleaners (ie. straight bleach) as this will remove the water repellency of the fabric. You may then have to have the material re-treated.
